Toshiba Released Libretto; Laptop with Double Screens
Toshiba Libretto or w100 uses two dual screens and the hinge can be rotated 360 degrees.
Tablet computer products for reading electronic books (e-book) Competition are more exciting. To commemorate the 25th birthday of laptops, Toshiba laptops introduced a different design with dual screens.
Two-screen mini-notebook called the Libretto w100 is also going to compete with Apple’s iPad built by Amazon.com and Kindle. Toshiba marketed this product in Japan in late August followed in Europe, the United States and other countries.
It is estimated, for Toshiba Libretto priced 120 000 yen or 1320 U.S. dollars. The price was far more expensive than the Kindle and 489 U.S. dollars iPad the cheapest variant of 499 U.S. dollars. “This product has a lot more value,” said Masahiko Fukakushi, CEO of Digital and Network Products Unit Toshiba.
The unique features in this notebook are its dual screens. Libretto does not use a conventional keyboard but a virtual keyboard on the screen of both. Consumers can operate this new gadget like a conventional notebook, with the software keyboard touch screen display. Consumers also can rotate the notebook is 90 degrees, such as reading books, to access e-book.
The competition become more increasingly fierce because of Sony Corp. will launch a similar product in the near future.
